Address data analysis shows San Francisco Bay Area bidding wars

Certain areas of San Francisco's Bay Area are attracting real estate bidding wars, as revealed by address data analysis, although prices remain affordable.

Figures from Emeryville-based ZipRealty show real estate in the 94608 ZIP Code of the East Bay sold for an average of 105.65 per cent of the original asking price during the third quarter of this year, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

This makes the code, which covers regions such as parts of Oakland and Emeryville, one of the country's best-performing in terms of sellers getting more than they originally asked.

David Kerr, a realtor at ZipRealty who specializes in East Bay properties, told the paper: "The homes are in the $200,000 to $300,000 price range. I've been writing offers there like nobody's business and getting beat out, often by cash offers."

Bargain prices are also available in South San Jose in the 95122 ZIP Code, where the high number of repossessions has led to cheap properties for investors.
