The United States Postal Service (USPS) is focusing on improving the service it offers surrounding catalog mail, it has been claimed.
According to an article by MultiChannelMerchant.com, delivering a better service with the mail format will be a priority for USPS in the future.
The comments were made by Tom Foti, marketing mail manager at USPS, during the National Catalog forum last week.
Mr Foti revealed that he plans to group and manage the format as a single product.
In addition, a new price change strategy will be implemented alongside a number of operational cost-saving initiatives.
The website reported Mr Foti as saying that it was important to "nail this down and figure out how to price these products and come up with a product cost coverage strategy".
He added: "We want to maintain existing price structures and existing makeup requirements."
US marketers who use catalog mailing may wish to take advantage of address verification software to minimize the danger of returned mail.
