Cloud computing is going to completely transform everything about businesses, including the customer experience, it has been claimed.
In an interview with Smart Business magazine, Ben Grele, director of the IT services practice group at Burr Pilger Mayer, said that he saw no reason why companies felt the need to take on their own data management processes when no one generated their own electricity.
"Cloud computing offers that same value proposition, where all you do is log in and off you go. You shouldn't have to worry about running IT systems yourself; it makes a lot more sense to focus on your core business," he said.
Mr Grele went on to say that he could see a point in time when on-site data management systems would become obsolete.
However, speaking to Networkworld.com, Ara Trembly, principal of The Tech Consultant, said that cloud computing is not the best solution for every organization.
