The number of businesses using cloud computing to handle their data is set to keep increasing, experts have predicted.

According to Intergence Systems, the technology is now starting to move into the mainstream, as many firms have overcome earlier concerns about security.

As a result, the group believes more organizations could start making use of cloud solutions in the near future.

Peter Job, founder and chief executive officer at Intergence Systems, is particularly confident about the prospects for hybrid cloud data management systems over the next few years.

"There's a big move toward hybrid cloud right now, because what you can do is take advantage of some of the more flexible applications that are in the cloud," he commented.

Mr Job added that private clouds are also proving to be a popular option with many, as lots of people have already been making use of virtualized environments for some time.
