Individual departments within organizations need to get more involved with data quality initiatives in order for them to fully understand the benefits.
IT Business Edge blogger Ann All has claimed that currently it can seem quite difficult to get business stakeholders involved in IT projects.
The industry commentator explains that by ignoring attempts to get other departments involved in efforts to better bad or inconsistent data process-improvement schemes are more likely to fail.
"IT is often seen as the caretaker of company data, the business doesn't get as involved in data quality efforts as it should and master data management is perceived as just another IT project," she stated.
Meanwhile, organizations in the US may be interested to learn that issues relating to data quality continue to hamper business intelligence efforts.
This is one of the primary findings of a recent study by Novarica which claims that the two factors are interlinked, Insurance Networking has reported.
