Data management and integration are ‘one problem’

Data integration at the lowest level of scale and data management at the highest level of scale should be viewed as one problem, it has been claimed.

This is one of the primary findings of a new white paper from Queplix, which highlighted the important role that data virtualization could play in helping to deal with the two issues.

Indeed, the organization claimed that virtualization could help to give businesses an “enterprise-wide vision” of the data which they store on their systems.

However, first it is important for companies to realise that data management and integration should not be independent of one another when developing IT strategies.

"They are part of a continuum need for data integration that scales from integrating any two applications to the completed implementation for master data management," the report said.

Meanwhile, data integration software company Informatica Corporation recently claimed that the ability to create, maintain and leverage a single, trusted, shareable version of customer master data should be seen as an essential requirement in commercial and non-commercial organizations.
