A growing number of master data management (MDM) will start looking at adding in-house data quality to their solutions, one expert has predicted.

Writing on his Forrester blog, Rob Karel has suggested that many business process management teams face "a vicious cycle of process data failure" if they do not invest money in improving systems.

"MDM teams must continuously prove their value to the organization when data quality is not connected to business context," he said.

As such, the industry expert suggests that MDM vendors should look to bring data quality improvements in-house to support their strategies.

"It's too important a component of MDM to rely solely on a third party partner," Mr Karel added.

According to data integration software company Informatica Corporation, the ability to create, maintain and leverage a single, trusted, shareable version of customer master data is seen as an essential requirement by organizations.

It is important to implement MDM strategies to improve the quality of information, the company explained.
