Direct mailing is an effective way of recruiting new staff in the difficult economic climate, it has been claimed.
According to human resources solutions provider NAS Recruitment Communications, the method tends to produce better results than electronic systems.
Tara Twomley, account manager at the group's Atlanta office, commented that the organization recently oversaw a successful direct mail campaign for Franklin Square Hospital in Ohio - which resulted in the hiring of an exceptional candidate for a hard-to-fill position.
She added: "We suggested using a direct mail postcard that could be personalized to each recipient, a technique that has been shown to dramatically improve response. Variable data mailings are just one of many print and interactive techniques."
Earlier this week, information processing services provider Data Services commented that the majority of US-based companies regard direct mail as their most effective tool in acquiring new customers.
The group added that address cleansing can enable small firms to make an impression in an environment where the marketing landscape is changing rapidly.
