Email marketing is one of the most effective methods that businesses can use to stay in contact with their customers, the results of a recent survey have suggested.
This was one of the findings of a recent study by MerchantCircle which found 35.8 per cent of respondents named it as their most effective marketing method.
Only search engine marketing (42 per cent) and creating a social networking profile (36.7 per cent) were named as better methods of promoting a business by the professionals questioned in the study.
However, MerchantCircle reported that an increasing number of marketers and businesses are now turning to search engine marketing and Facebook to promote themselves as a result of tighter budgets.
"What we've seen is a steady decline in traditional advertising methods and a real uptick in the adoption of free online marketing avenues," said Darren Waddell, vice-president of marketing and product management at the firm.
"[Local business owners] are much more interested in either things they can really measure the results of like email marketing, or things that cost little to nothing and are simple to use."
