Enterprise data management now 'increasingly important'

Rachel Wheeler Archive
Enterprise data management is becoming increasingly important for businesses looking to host, track and secure their information.

This is the finding of a recent whitepaper from CIO, which states that enterprise data management is an effective and efficient means of achieving this goal, both internally and externally.

CIO reports that changes occurring in the business environment are now taking place at a record pace, which is having an effect on the dynamics of all parts of an organization.

"Given … the growing volumes of data, an effective strategy must be put in place
to help manage the data properly, avoid unnecessary costs and risks and create an environment where the value of data can be realized," the paper explains.

Indeed, enterprise data management acts as this strategy for defining, integrating, and retrieving data for both internal applications such as financial, human resources, business intelligence and CRM.

Efficiencies in these areas can improve business processes, reduce security risks, decrease infrastructure costs, improve speed, help companies adhere to compliance requirements and offer a competitive differentiation, the whitepaper says.
