A fear of organizational change is the real reason that businesses are apprehensive about adopting cloud computing technologies, it has been suggested.
According to Martino Corbelli, director of marketing at Star, the "data security" excuse often put forward by industry professionals was a result of an unwillingness to undertake structural overhauls.
However, writing for the IT Director website, Mr Corbelli explained that companies that had already adopted cloud services are quickly realizing that this attitude is holding other businesses back.
"Businesses are now looking to transform themselves and become internet-driven and IT professionals that champion cloud computing in their business will elevate their own status by harnessing the business benefits this presents," the expert said.
Mr Corbelli added that organizations that fail to move with the times will find themselves languishing behind.
Industry analyst Gartner recently claimed that the global value of the cloud computing market is set for exponential growth in the coming years as more firms look to harness the benefits of the hosted software.
