Illinois lists liquor license-holders by district

The state of Illinois has launched a new initiative which allows residents to search for liquor-license holders by ZIP Code.

As part of Governor Pat Quinn's "Transparency Initative", almost 14,000 licensed bars, taverns, restaurants, liquor stores and special event operators in Illinois will be listed by license number and ZIP Code, allowing residents to see locations and the status of the license.

Distributors, importers and winery shippers will also be included in the "License Validation Look-Up System".

Lainie Krozel, executive director of the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, said: "We're pleased to be able to offer Illinoisans this important information in a way that is user-friendly and practically instantaneous.

"We've been able to provide information about licenses in the past but, through the hard work of our staff, we are now able to provide our licensing data quickly to any interested party."

The online service will also offer information to those wishing to obtain a proper liquor license in the state.
