Businesses that fall into the categories of medium-to-high volume mailers should use both presort and post-presort software in order to take advantage of a large number of benefits, it has been suggested.
According to an article on Presort.com, as well as discounts available from the United States Postal Service (USPS®) other benefits can be utilized if companies adopt both types of software.
The report highlights that the recent changes made to improve Intelligent Mail services are a step in the right direction, allowing mailers to submit electronic rather than paper versions of mailing documents.
"Although presort software is necessary and very powerful, one of its limitations is that it can be difficult and time-consuming to make any changes to the mailing once the presort is complete," the article explains.
This can include making amendments to details such as address data, package weight and entry point of the mailpiece.
By combining presort and post-presort software mailers will be able to reduce errors, and lower overhead costs, in addition to saving time.
The Intelligent Mail barcode was implemented by USPS in May 2009.
