Merchants, consumers and shippers will be able to take advantage of USPS's package return services, which are designed to make it easy to return holiday items by post.
The Return@Ease program provides customers with varied returns solutions which have many different types of methods that vary in urgency, size and cost, depending on consumers' needs.
Robert Bernstock, the president of mailing and shipping services at USPS, said that the Merchandise Return Service "provides shippers with the flexibility to offer customers package return options using first-class mail, priority mail or other package service[s]".
He added: "Our package return services provide a variety of options for consumers and business mailers. Whatever the service requirement, we have solutions available for returning merchandise quickly and efficiently."
USPS also offers the service on its website using its Click-N-Ship service.
The postal service estimated that they handled in excess of 16 billion items over the Christmas period, including cards and packages.
