Organizations looking to improve their online sales and e-commerce platform may want to consider enticing consumers with promotions.
According to the results of the latest ChannelAdvisor Consumer Shopping Habits Survey, an increasing number of shoppers now plan to purchase gifts online this year.
When asked what promotion enticed shoppers to purchase, 'best price' was most popular, followed closely by 'free shipping' and then 'trusted seller status'.
The results of the ChannelAdvisor survey are based on the views of hundreds of consumers across the US and it aims to learn online shopping habits, thoughts on the economy as well as customer's comfort with new technology.
Scot Wingo, chief executive officer of the company, explains: "We've implemented the consumer shopping survey as a way to gather market intelligence to help our customers prioritize their e-commerce strategy based upon when, where and how consumers are shopping online."
Elsewhere, the study suggests that product reviews are an "exceedingly important" feature of a good e-commerce site.
In total, 92 per cent of consumers said they read product reviews and 46 per cent were influenced to purchase based upon the reviews.
