Many online retailers are readying themselves to offer special discounts on Thanksgiving Day itself.
As family and friends gather across the US for their turkey dinners, just over half of e-retailers are planning notable discounts.
Research from Shop.org, the e-commerce arm of the National Retail federal trade group, suggests that 51 per cent of online companies are looking to lure shoppers to the web on November 24th.
Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, when the holiday shopping season traditionally begins. However, BIGresearch consumer insights director Pam Goodfellow says consumers like to prepare in advance.
"Holiday shoppers love the idea of preparing for special online sales events as many begin scanning catalogs and retailers' web sites days in advance, marking gift items for their family, friends and even themselves," she added.
Shop.org research shows that 92.2 per cent of e-commerce retailers will offer some kind of deal or discount over Thanksgiving weekend.
