Organizations harboring concerns about migrating to the cloud have been urged to "tread carefully", but not be put off.
The National Computing Center has claimed that while businesses should be careful when moving to cloud computing but not overly intimidated by their concerns.
Michael Dean, head of marketing for the firm, said that it was important for organizations to understand fully what they wanted to gain from the hosted management technology.
"Get a clear view of your requirements, understand your risk profile; there may be some things that you shouldn't put in the cloud and some things that can easily work," he advised.
"Be sure to review contracts, avoiding those which are one-sided – this is an emerging industry and suppliers naturally want to cover potential risks."
The comments follow the release of recent research from 2e2 that found 57 per cent of businesses are unsure if cloud services are suited to them or are aware how to implement them.
