Direct mail marketers may wish to take advantage of the United States Postal Services (USPS) summer sale between July 1st and September 30th.
The idea was first introduced by USPS last year to boost falling mail numbers during the traditionally quieter summer months.
In order to qualify for the discounts USPS says mailers must disperse over 350,000 items of mail during the two-month period.
Speaking last year, the USPS board of governors explained that "the standard mail volume incentive pricing program offered mailers an incentive to improve above their expected performance during the summer months, which is typically a low-volume period for the Postal Service and its customers".
Thanks to the sale in 2009, mailers were able to get a 30 per cent rebate back on their volumes.
USPS recently announced that it would be extending its recycling scheme and encouraged consumers to take advantage of measures such as online address verification
to check addresses and minimize wasting fuel from returned mail.
