USPS® will deliver anthrax antidotes

The United States Postal Service has been authorised to deliver self-administered anthrax antidotes to US homes in the event of a biological attack.

President Barack Obama issued the order last week (December 30th), known as Executive Order 13528 as he said that USPS has the ability to quickly deliver packages throughout the country.

"The U.S. Postal Service has the capacity for rapid residential delivery of medical countermeasures for self administration across all communities in the United States. The Federal Government shall pursue a national U.S. Postal Service medical countermeasures dispensing model to respond to a large-scale biological attack," the Executive Order said.

In support of this model, both the Department of Health and Homeland Security have been given 180 days to come up with supplementary plans of action to assist any necessary operations.

This includes deploying military personnel to protect and assist USPS workers in delivering the antidotes should the need ever arise.
