A newspaper in Virginia has stated its intention to continue its highly successful direct marketing program.

According to the editor's blog, the Virginian Pilot will "continue to offer targeted marketing solutions via Pilot Direct, our direct marketing business", as the newspaper begins to change its appearance in a bid to cut costs.

The newspaper will need to maintain a high level of address data so that its product can remain successful and continue to deliver the results that local businesses have seen in the past.

The editor of the newspaper also claimed the economic recovery is in sight, suggesting that further growth in its direct marketing solution could be around the corner.

Global trade website Alibaba.com recently suggested high standards of data quality are crucial to help businesses through the recession.

The website put address data cleaning in its top 50 tips to help companies cut their bills during the downturn.
