West Virginia city addresses zip code accuracy issues

Residents in Newcastle, West Virginia, would overwhelmingly support the adoption of a unique zip code, it has been revealed.

According to the Newcastle News, a study conducted by city authorities found that 95 per cent of people said it would better establish the city's identity, while 50 per cent said they had difficulty using taxi or airport services and 45 per cent said they need to change their home delivery routine.

Newcastle currently has two zip codes that are assigned to Renton - 98056 and 98059.

The news provider reported comments by city manager John Starbard that the findings will be presented to the postal service.

City spokesperson Doug Alder added: "This should be important to the post office, because they're always concerned about the accurate and speedy delivery of mail.

"When more than half of the people in the survey had package and letter delivery problems, that says a lot."

Last week, the Courier Post reported that residents in the Depfort area of New Jersey are to have the opportunity to unify their mailing addresses under one zip code.
