What is the European Data Protection Board?

The EU Data Protection Authorities have set up the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) in preparation for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which will take effect on 25th May 2018.

What is the role of the European Data Protection Board?

The main functions of the board are:

  • To issue guidance for controllers and processors on aspects of GDPR
  • To support businesses ability to comply
  • To determine disputes between national supervisory authorities
  • Provide consistency and cooperate with Data Protection Authorities
