Public Data Group

What is the Public Data Group?

The Public Data Group was established by the UK Government in 2011 to facilitate the effective management and distribution of government-held data. Members of this group included:

  • Met Office
  • Ordnance Survey
  • HM Land Registry
  • Companies House

What was the purpose of the Public Data Group?

The Public Data Corporation was set up to make government data more easily available and to manage this data effectively.

However, in 2015 the group and its functions were integrated into a new Department for Business Innovations and Skills (BIS) board.
